New York Rangers at Minnesota Wild
The Rangers are an extremely frustrating team to try and figure out right now; they’ve won the puck possession battle in each of their last 10 games (which includes games against Boston, Chicago, and Pittsburgh) but have only won half of those games. The team just isn’t shooting very well right now and this was an issue they ran into back in December. New York seems very susceptible to shooting percentage drops and they’re going through one right now. It wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t averaging three goals against per game in their last six, but they are, and it is.
Minnesota has lost three in a row and won half their games since the Olympic break. They’ve always played well at home this season, though, as evidenced by their seven regulation losses in 33 home games this year. Their last two home games were a pair of shootout losses so it’s not much to get in a fit over. Charlie Coyle seems to have found a home on the second line with Mikko Koivu and Matt Moulson which is great news for his DFS value, especially considering his price right now.
These two teams met in December in New York, a 4-1 win for the Rangers. This is a match-up of two very even teams so in situations like this, I just avoid both goalies and pick apart at either team for plays in 50/50s. The Rangers are still using the Stepan line as their match-up against other top lines, so I would avoid them and the Granlund line tonight.
