Montreal Canadiens at Anaheim Ducks
The Habs lost 2-1 to Los Angeles on Monday night and while the score and shot count (22-18 LAK) might indicate a close game, it really wasn’t. With that said, the top line of Brendan Gallagher, David Desharnais, and Max Pacioretty has looked absolutely lethal in every game that the Habs have played since the break. If there are any players to target off that team for tonight, either Gallagher or Desharnais would make sense. Montreal is also linked to trade rumors so keep an eye on guys that might be in or out of the lineup tonight.
Anaheim was busy yesterday in acquiring defenseman Stephane Robidas from Dallas while shipping Dustin Penner out to Washington. We’ll see how it all ends but for the most part, the Ducks’ NHL roster remained largely unchanged.
Anaheim looked a little sluggish coming out of the gate but have won three straight games now. The worrisome part is that they’ve been outshot by a total of 31 in those three contests. Thankfully for them, Anaheim gets one of the worst possession teams in the NHL.
The Habs beat the Ducks 4-1 in Montreal back in October, a game where the Canadiens struck a couple times on the power play. It’s worrisome because the Habs’ power play is rolling at a 28.6-percent clip since the break. This game is probably closer than it should be so I’ll avoid both goalies and pick at the players for value plays.
