Tampa Bay Lightning at St. Louis Blues
Tampa Bay finishes up their road trip tonight in St. Louis and in all likelihood it’ll be the last game they play without Steven Stamkos. The Lightning have given up 11 goals so far in the three games they’ve played and it won’t get any easier going into St. Louis. It’ll be interesting to see if Tampa Bay goes with Ben Bishop again tonight. This game would make three in four nights for the Hart Trophy candidate goaltender and that’s a lot of hockey for any goaltender. Either way, it’s not a great spot for Tampa Bay tonight.
St. Louis was shutout in back to back games coming off the break and the offense looked a little stagnant. They hung four on Phoenix on Sunday though and come home where they’ve been the NHL’s top scoring team. In their last game, the Blues put Alex Steen back on David Backes’ line and by the end of the game, T.J. Oshie was back on their line too. That was the trio used on the top line that had Alex Steen filling the net so we’ll see if they can keep the magic going.
The Blues lost to Tampa back in October 4-2 but it’s safe to say that neither team is the same as they were back then. This will also be Ryan Miller’s second game in net for St. Louis after stopping 23 of 25 shots in his first for the win. Note: Tampa Bay has one of the worst penalty kills in the NHL and St. Louis has one of the best power plays. I would stay away from the goalies but will be leaning heavily on St. Louis tonight (the team, not the player).
