Dallas Stars at Columbus Blue Jackets
Dallas has looked like a playoff team coming out of the break, outshooting the three opponents they’ve faced 114-74. They lost one of those games but the team has looked dominant night in and night out. The power play even connected last night as Alex Chiasson deflected in a point shot that ended up being the game-winning goal. Since November 1, this team is 3-1 on the second game of a back-to-back, too. One note is that Erik Cole has looked excellent for the Stars coming out of the break and it’s only a matter of time before he has a monster game.
Columbus is also playing the second game of a back to back tonight as they come off a 2-1 win in Toronto last night. In fact, this makes three games in four nights for both teams. One guys playing extremely well for the Blue Jackets right now is Matt Calvert. The depth player has two points in his last two games and has registered at least three shots on goal in five straight games. He plays on what is essentially Columbus’ fourth line, but they get third line minutes and Calvert also gets power play time.
With two teams likely being pretty tired tonight, I expect a high-scoring game. When players get tired, the first thing to go is defense. On top of that, it’s likely that both backup goalies get the start tonight. I won’t be taking either goalie but there should be a enough goals to support DFS plays from either side.
