Boston Bruins at New York Rangers
Boston wasted several glorious opportunities yesterday, including a full-length 5-on-3, en route to a 4-2 loss at the hand of the Capitals. In fact, that’s two straight losses to start the home stretch of games to two non-playoff teams. That’s absolutely brutal.
Boston’s first two games have been largely determined by special teams as six of the 15 goals scored in the two games they’ve played have been with the man advantage. To me, that’s the hallmark of teams that are playing sloppy hockey and Boston (and their opponents) have been guilty of exactly that.
The Rangers also played yesterday but managed a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Flyers. The biggest note in that game is that Henrik Lundqvist was the starting goalie for the Rangers, so it will be interesting to see if they give him a back to back so early out of the break. The difference between he and Cam Talbot for now, for DFS purposes, is only in the salary.
This is another game with two teams both playing the second game of a back to back. At that point, B2B tendencies are irrelevant because everyone is on the same playing field. I’ll take some skaters from both sides but will be completely avoiding whoever is in goal for either team.
