Florida Panthers at New York Islanders
I really am having a tough time deciding what to make of this game. Both teams are pretty bad, both teams got shelled yesterday by a combined 12-4 score and both teams are playing the second game of a back to back today. I really, really don’t know what to make of this game.
The Panthers went in to Columbus yesterday and lost 6-3 to the Blue Jackets in a game where they should be fortunate that they got the three goals that they did. I don’t want to overstate the loss of a rookie, but without Aleksander Barkov there just is no centre help on this team past Nick Bjugstad and that is a pretty significant problem. If anything, I might pick one or two wingers from the team today.
The Islanders showed a very good game against Toronto in their first game out of the break and then got walked all over yesterday by New Jersey. A big problem for them was the penalty kill, although they shouldn’t have to worry about that considering the Panthers are on pace for a historically bad power play.
I’m not too keen on taking players from either side in this one because it does seem like quite the crapshoot. With that said, I will take Tim Thomas today in some GPP games and maybe a winger or two in my cash games from either side. That’s about it, though.
