Tampa Bay Lightning at Nashville Predators
It was bad enough that the Tampa Bay Lightning received news that Steven Stamkos will not be returning to action on their team’s four-game road trip. It’s even worse now that the report came out that captain Martin St. Louis has asked for a trade out of Tampa Bay. This is bad news for a team that had hopes of making a run for the Stanley Cup. Other than St. Louis, though, the rest of this team should be ready to go (even the Olympians that were knocked out early).
Nashville had allowed 25 goals in their final seven games heading into the Olympic break and that had been their hallmark all season long. They got news that Pekka Rinne was ready for a conditioning assignment so he might be back before long, but until then it could be tough sledding for this team. One place that had been a concern for them is the penalty kill, as they allowed five power play goals against in the six games leading into the break.
I expect Tampa Bay to win this game but I’m not comfortable enough in saying that to have that salary in my lineups. This game for me is one that I’ll just stay away from altogether. These are two teams that are tough to predict on the best of days and today is not a good day.
