Chicago Blackhawks at Phoenix Coyotes
The ‘Hawks will be without two important pieces to their team as Patrick Kane is expected to miss tonight’s game along with defenseman Johnny Oduya. Kane leads the team in points and is one goal behind Patrick Sharp to tie for the team lead in that category while Oduya typically plays against the other team’s first line so someone else will have to step up and eat a lot of hard minutes tonight.
The ‘Hawks finish their pre-Olympic schedule tonight in Phoenix and they have started this road trip 3-0-2 and they have managed 17 goals so far. One aspect of Chicago’s game that needed, and has seen, improvement is their penalty killing; after being in the bottom two in the NHL in PK efficiency for most of the season, the team has climbed to 22nd over the last six weeks.
Phoenix has alternated wins and losses over their last seven games and that’s the hallmark of a team that is good but not much more than that. It sounds simplistic, but a quick glance at the Coyotes roster can tell a DFS player that they’re not built for sustained success. In two games against the Blackhawks this year the ‘Yotes have yet to win and allowed nine goals against along the way.
This one is tough to cap because the Coyotes can win given Chicago’s situation but a championship team like Chicago knows how to pick up their play when missing some pieces. I expect a close game but the ‘Hawks should come out on top.
