Vancouver Canucks at Montréal Canadiens
Does somebody actually have to win this game? Each of these two teams have 19 goals combined in their last five games so that should give you some insight into what to expect tonight (probably a 2-1 game either way).
The Canucks are on a big time slide right now with five straight losses and a 4-11-2 mark since January 1st. The team isn’t scoring, they’re not generating chances, they’re not converting power play opportunities, and their penalty kill is average. In short, just about everything is going wrong for this team all at the same time and it shows on the scoreboard.
Fortunately for Vancouver, they get the Habs and Montréal is just 8-8-3 since Christmas and that mark would be much, much worse had it not been for Carey Price single-handedly stealing this team some games. One bright spot for the Habs is that they’ve killed off 22 straight penalties but they won’t have to worry about the Canucks’ awful power play anyway.
This should be a low-scoring game and it’s a coin flip. I’m going to stay away from this game for the most part other than Carey Price in a few lineups.
