Colorado Avalanche at Philadelphia Flyers
Colorado comes into Philadelphia riding a pretty good stretch of games, having just four regulation losses since January 1st. The last time out was a 5-1 loss in New York but that was a bit of a schedule loss as teams don’t do very well on the second game of back to backs on the road. All their players are clicking right now – even Matt Duchene, though he hasn’t found the back of the net much of late – and seeing as their power play has five goals in their last five games, they should get theirs tonight.
Philly is coming off a Western road trip that saw them go 2-1 in California, not a bad mark for any team that makes that road trip. I had thought that this might be a letdown game for the Flyers coming off a road trip, but they are 5-1-1 coming off a road trip of two games or longer this year so that probably won’t be the case. They will probably have to run up their goal totals in order to win tonight, though, as they’ve given up 12 goals in their last four games on the road.
I really do expect this to be a high scoring game but I’m unsure of the line matching so plus/minus will be a concern on both sides. I would stay away from both goalies in this game, though.
Note: Kimmo Timonen should return tonight for the Flyers as he was on the ice practicing fully with the team this morning.
