Phoenix Coyotes at Edmonton Oilers
Tough times have hit the Coyotes as they are just 3-9 in their 12 January games and have lost back-to-back games to Toronto and Calgary. One bright spot is that the last time Phoenix came to Edmonton back in early December, the Coyotes left town with a 6-2 win. They also beat Edmonton at the end of December in Phoenix 3-2 in overtime. One downside to that is that since their win in Edmonton, the Coyotes are 2-5-4 on the road and have more than three goals in one of them (a 4-3 overtime win in Ottawa). They do have a power play that is rolling though as their most recent game in Calgary was the first time since January 7th that they haven’t scored with the man advantage.
Edmonton has been on hard times all season but they have lost five games in a row (though they are 2-2 in their last four home games). In those five losses, the team has scored just nine goals and given up 19 in return. It doesn’t matter who is in net for them either, as those five losses contain games started by Devan Dubnyk, Ben Scrivens and Ilya Bryzgalov. It’ll be Bryzgalov in net tonight and he has just one win in his last seven outings, having given up 3.71 goals/game in that stretch.
I will certainly not be taking either goalie out of this game but there should be enough goals to make certain players attractive at their prices. Keep an eye on Daily Faceoff tonight, though, as the lineup may be switched around depending on whether or not Ales Hemsky is in the lineup.
