Winnipeg Jets at Anaheim Ducks
So far, Winnipeg has won all three games under the tenure of coach Paul Maurice but let’s face it, the wins were against Phoenix, Edmonton and Calgary. I will say one thing that is sort of DFS-related: Jacob Trouba is probably the best defenseman under 20-years old in the world right now. The move of Dustin Byfuglien to forward was facilitated greatly by their young star defenseman and he’s still undervalued a little bit in the daily game (though his price is rising almost daily).
Anaheim had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Friday with a 3-2 loss in Chicago, though they rebounded with a 3-2 win in St. Louis the very next night. This team is first in the NHL in points, second in goal differential and still hasn’t lost in regulation at home yet this year. This is a situation where everything is clicking for the Ducks: Jonas Hiller has been near-lights out, the power play has seven goals in their last nine games excluding the game they scored six against Vancouver, and the penalty kill is nearly 86-percent in 2014.
These two teams have only met once this year and it was back in the first week of the season (i.e. a lot has changed). It was a 3-2 win for Anaheim in Winnipeg, a game where the doubled the Jets in shots 34-17. That’s about what you can expect tonight in Anaheim, though there should be some extra goals.
Note: Evander Kane expects to return to the lineup tonight and will be playing alongside Mark Scheifele. Those two made a pretty good offensive connection when they played together so it’ll be interesting to see if it takes them long to get their chemistry back.
