Minnesota Wild at Phoenix Coyotes
Minnesota comes into Phoenix on a three-game winning streak with their latest win coming against Los Angeles. Impressive, right? Well, their first two wins came against Buffalo (NHL’s worst team) and Washington (a team on a big slide) and then got outshot 40-17 against the Kings but Darcy Kuemper was able to make 39 saves to force, and win, a shootout. The record is not indicative of the performance.
Phoenix has continued their consistently inconsistent play with a 6-0 win at home against Calgary on Tuesday. Since November 5th, so a stretch of over two months now, the Coyotes have neither won nor lost more than three games in a row, hence their consistent inconsistency. This makes it extremely difficult to judge how a team will perform in the future.
The last time these two teams met was a 3-1 Phoenix win, and that came at a time when the Wild were nine games above .500. That number has since shrunk to six games above .500, to give you an indication of how they’ve played.
I don’t have a good read on this game so I’ll say Phoenix wins but I’m completely guessing as to how many goals they’ll score. If you have a better read on this game, go for it. I’m going to be staying away completely.
