Boston Bruins at Anaheim Ducks
The Bruins start a three-game California trip tonight in Anaheim in the hopes to extend their two-game winning streak. All of their goals for and against have come at even-strength in those two games, after scoring six power play goals in the five previous games. They’ll need all their even-strength if they hope to beat a Ducks team that still hasn’t lost at home in regulation yet this year.
If Boston wants to win tonight, they’re going to need to turn around their play as of late; despite being one of the best shot differential teams in the NHL this year, they’ve been outshot by 18 shots in their last two contests, to Nashville and Winnipeg no less. It’s not like they’ve been impressive on the road, either, as they’ve gone just 1-3 in their last four road games, including losses to Buffalo and Ottawa.
The Ducks have won three straight games, scoring 15 goals over those contests. Those games include a nail-biting game against Vancouver their last time out where they scored in the final two minutes to tie the game up and force an overtime they’d eventually win. They are averaging over 39 shots a game over their last five games, so their offense is firing on all cylinders.
Boston will need to be their absolute best if they hope to win tonight. It’ll be a lower-scoring game, but I expect Anaheim to take this one.
