Philadelphia Flyers at Phoenix Coyotes
The Flyers’ six-game road trip goes into game five tonight in Phoenix, and the Flyers have gone 3-1 so far on this trip, allowing just eight goals along the way. Granted, two were shootout wins and the other victory was against Calgary, but all the same, they are much-needed points.
Phoenix, meanwhile, should see the return of their captain Shane Doan tonight after missing a month of action with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which, OK? The Coyotes managed to go 4-3-5 without him to stay afloat in the Western Conference playoff race.
Philadelphia’s last game out was the first time in nine games that this team didn’t score at least three goals. Sometimes that happens, as the shots on goal against Colorado that night were pretty even, sometimes you just end up on the wrong side of things.
These two teams met back in October in Philadelphia with the Coyotes taking the game 2-1. There was only one power play goal in 10 chances that game between the two teams, and both these teams have gone three straight games without a power play goal in more recent games. I expect another low-scoring affair tonight, which would make goalie Mike Smith a good play.
