Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 4, 2014

Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers

Nashville goes to Florida tonight to meet the Panthers for their second and final meeting tonight. The first one went to Nashville by a 4-3 score, but that was so long ago, Pekka Rinne was in net for that game.

Florida has lost four of their last five games (1-3-1), allowing 17 goals over their five games and five power play goals against as well.

Nashville is a pretty hot and cold team of late. The Preds lost five games in a row from mid-to-late December, scoring just nine goals in those five losses. In their next three games, where they went 2-0-1, they scored 11 goals. A team that inconsistent is tough to put money on, be it DFS or otherwise.

Florida had a pretty good December when all was said and done, going 8-5-1 though they finished the month 1-3-1. Part of this was the aforementioned penalty kill, which has been a problem all season, and part of it is an inability to generate offense: Florida has fewer than 30 shots on goal in seven of their last 10 games.

Nashville’s special teams should be enough to be the edge in this game, and I also like Carter Hutton or Marek Mazanec in net considering their price.
