Ottawa Senators at Montréal Canadiens
Another team looking to win four in a row for the first time this year is the Ottawa Senators and they travel into Montréal tonight to try to make that happen.
The Habs, meanwhile, finished off their six-game road trip the other night in Dallas with a 6-4 win, their highest offensive output since a November 19 win over Minnesota.
Ottawa has gone five straight games without scoring a power play goal, yet they are 4-1 in those five contests. Part of that has been their penalty kill, which is 14-for-15 over those five games, and part of it is the improved play, statistically at least, of goaltender Craig Anderson. Anderson has now won four starts in a row, allowing just seven goals against in those games.
Montréal finished their road trip 3-2-1, though in three of those games they only scored on goal. One bright spot is that after going four straight games to start the trip without scoring a power play goal, the Habs went 3-for-10 in their final two games. If the Habs want to be successful, they’ll need to keep converting with the man advantage.
These two teams met two months ago with Ottawa coming away with a 4-1 win. The only goal the Habs scored was on the power play, not that it really matters. I like Ottawa in this game, but it’s another game I don’t feel comfortable taking either goalie.
