Columbus Blue Jackets at Phoenix Coyotes
Despite going 2-2-1 in their last five games, Columbus has given up 17 goals in those five contests and ten goals over their last two. The biggest problem has been their penalty kill which has gone just 10-for-18 in their last four games, accounting for 57-percent of their goals against.
Conversely, the Phoenix Coyotes are 2-0-3 in their last five games while allowing 13 goals against, only one of which was on the penalty kill. The Coyotes offense has been flying lately, putting 35 or more shots on goal in seven of their last nine games.
Phoenix has had their problems against the Eastern Conference of late, going 2-2-2 against the East and scoring just 14 goals in those games. Given, only two of those games were at home where they went 1-1 and scored half of those 14 goals.
Columbus has gone 0-for-16 in their last four games on the power play and has had problems keeping the puck out of their own net. Phoenix, meanwhile, is the fifth-highest scoring team at home on the season averaging over 3.5 goals/game. I would expect Phoenix to skate away with tonight’s game handily, making Mike Smith a good start in net.
Note: Nathan Horton makes his season debut tonight for Columbus. I would give him a few games to get acclimated before I feel comfortable putting him in any DFS lineup.
