Montréal Canadiens at Dallas Stars
These are two more teams searching for a bit of consistency in the win/loss columns as neither has won or lost more than two games in a row for the last three weeks. These two teams met in Montréal back on October 29, a 2-1 win for the Habs. The game was fairly close in the shot attempt department until the Habs made it 2-0 in that game, so there is a good chance this game stays close tonight.
Montréal will have to cut down on the massive amount of penalties they’ve taken of late if they want to stay in this game: in their last six games, they’ve given up 28 power play opportunities (allowing four goals along the way). Dallas’ power play hasn’t been very good on the year, but they do have four power play goals in their last four games and do possess some very high-end scoring talent.
The Habs have allowed 23 goals against in their last seven games against the Western Conference and 15 in their last four. The Stars haven’t played many games against the East recently, but they are 3-for-13 on the power play after game three of this five game home stand, so I would expect Dallas to take the game tonight, likely with at least one power play goal to go along with it.
Kari Lehtonen’s price in net is reasonable enough to take him, though I would not want to rely on him heavily, this should be a close game.
