Philadelphia Flyers at Vancouver Canucks
The Flyers continue their Western road trip tonight in Vancouver, coming off a 4-3 shootout win in Edmonton a couple of nights ago.
Vancouver, meanwhile, has allowed just 17 goals against in 12 games this month, which includes two shutouts. Their most recent shutout came last night in Calgary with tonight’s likely starter Eddie Lack in net.
Philadelphia’s offense just keeps rolling along as they have now scored at least three goals in six consecutive games, putting up 24 goals total. Of course, they’ve also allowed 20 goals against in those six contests, so the goaltending hasn’t exactly been stellar. For as good as their power play has been – six goals in their last five games on 24 opportunities – the penalty kill has been equally bad, having put up just a 77.7-percent efficiency in those last five contests.
Vancouver, as mentioned, played last night on the road and Lack will probably have to make back-to-back starts in net which is a risky proposition, especially against a team that is rolling along as well as Philadelphia is right now. If Vancouver wants to win tonight, they’ll need to right their power play, which was gone just 1-for-13 in their last five games.
There could be a lot of goals in this game, making neither goalie particularly appealing.
