St. Louis Blues at Dallas Stars
St. Louis is coming off a shootout win against Chicago last night, and that wasn’t even the most impressive part of their win: the Blues have scored 45 goals in 11 games this month, which is just a ridiculous total. In their last four games, they have scored 19 goals while allowing just nine goals against. This has led to a 7-3-2 December record, very impressive indeed.
Dallas has continued to mush on even though they are now missing defenseman Sergei Gonchar, on top of already missing Trevor Daley and Stéphane Robidas for a good chunk of the season. It’s not easy to fill in half your starting defenseman spots, and the Stars have done very well doing just that.
The last time these two teams met, in St. Louis, it resulted in a 6-1 win for the Blues. The Stars only managed 25 shots on goal and were outplayed from pretty much start to finish. I would expect this game to be a bit lower-scoring, but would avoid both goalies as it’s a toss-up to which team will actually win.
Reminder: Alex Steen was placed on the injured reserve yesterday, so the depth players on St. Louis are better targets than the top line.
