Montréal Canadiens at Florida Panthers
Both teams are playing the second game of a back-to-back today, with Montréal coming off a shootout win in Tampa Bay, while Florida was edged out at home by Detroit.
As has been the issue for Florida all season long, their penalty kill has failed them of late; in their last three games (all losses by a combined score of 15-6), Florida’s PK is just 8-for-13, a 61.5-percent efficiency. The flipside of that is that the Habs’ power play has just four goals this month, but today would be a good chance to get that side of their game going.
For all the struggles Montréal has had this month, they are 5-2 on the road in December, while Florida is just 3-3 at home.
Two teams playing a back-to-back that haven’t faced each other yet this year is a tough game to gauge. Because of that, I would generally just stay away from it unless there were value plays I was looking for.
