Philadelphia Flyers at Edmonton Oilers
This game is a little tough to judge.
On the one hand, you have the Flyers, who only have six wins in 19 road games this year. On the other hand, you have an Oilers team playing the second game of a back-to-back, and is iffy defensively on the best of days. The stoppable force meets the movable object, indeed.
The Oilers have won two games in a row now, but let’s face it, it was one easy game against a tired Winnipeg team and then they beat the lowly Calgary Flames. Not to say that the Flyers are world-beaters, but they’re a bit better than that.
It’s already been announced that Ilya Bryzgalov will start the game tonight against his former team. The assumption would be that Steve Mason gets the nod for the Flyers. These two goalies have combined for a .903 save percentage in the month of December on nearly 400 total shots against, so this game is screaming for a lot of goals.
I’m not really too concerned about the line matching in this game, there’s no one shutdown line that concerns me for either side. I’m avoiding the goaltenders completely but will have lots of players from both sides sprinkled across my lineups.
