Pittsburgh Penguins at Carolina Hurricanes
The Penguins may have had visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads before the break, as they were rolling along until their final game, a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the Senators.
On the flipside, the break couldn’t come soon enough for the Hurricanes, as they have just one win in their last seven games. They’re also getting on the wrong side of close games, as their last seven losses are by two goals or less.
These two teams met twice back in October, with Pittsburgh taking both games by a combined 8-3 score. There’s really only one story for tonight, though:
Malkin has accompanied the Penguins to Carolina and presumably plans to at least go on the ice today.

If Malkin really does suit up for tonight, this wildly changes the outlook on this game. Without Malkin, this could presumably be a 3-2 game, or something similar. With Malkin, it could be a 5-2 game, and it would bring value to the second line.
Basically, you’ll have to wait it out to see if Malkin does play, and I will be pretty bullish on the Penguins if he does.
