New Jersey Devils at Chicago Blackhawks
My outlook on this game will rely on which goalie is in net for the Devils: If it’s Martin Brodeur in net for the Devils, I will be filling my lineups with Blackhawks at will. If it’s Cory Schneider, I would be a lot less bullish on ‘Hawks players.
The Devils will be looking to continue their little hot streak that has seen them go 3-0-1 in their last four games, outscoring their opponents 15-9 in those games. They’ve even scored four power play goals in those games, bringing their power play efficiency to nearly top-10 status on the season.
The Blackhawks are a pretty good hockey team, but every team has their bumps in the road. Over their last four games, the Blackhawks are 2-1-1 and their goals for/against is an even 11-11. Part of this is not generating enough offense, as they have 28 shots on goal or fewer in three of those four games, even though they average 33 shots per game on the season.
Keep a close eye on the goaltender situation for New Jersey, if it’s announced that Brodeur is coming in net for the Devils, then the Blackhawks should be used at will.
**update: It’s Schneider confirmed starting for New Jersey
