Columbus Blue Jackets at Carolina Hurricanes
Columbus has had a pretty successful month of December, having gone 5-3-1 this month while scoring 30 goals in this nine games. Much like Anaheim (to less of a winning degree), the Jackets have done this largely without the help of the power play, as their PP has rolled along at just a 13-percent clip in those nine games.
Carolina gets what is seemingly a rare home game tonight, as they haven’t played back-to-back games at home since Nov. 21-Dec 1. In their last four games at home, the Hurricanes are 1-3 and two of those losses are to Washington and New Jersey, not exactly la crème de la crème.
Of course the biggest news of late for the Blue Jackets is that after missing 17 games with injury, Marian Gaborik returned for the Blue Jackets, only to break his collarbone in the very game he was returning. This will force another lineup shuffle for the Blue Jackets and creates a bit uncertainty as far as line-matching goes.
I wouldn’t feel too comfortable with either goalie, but am leaning Carolina in this contest.
