St. Louis Blues at Calgary Flames
The Blues have scored 38 goals this month in 10 games, including 16 goals in five road games. In those road games, the Blues have gone 3-1-1 and outscored their opponents 16-10.
Calgary, meanwhile, is 2-2 in their last four home games – they’ve spent quite a bit of time on the road as of late – and they beat teams they can beat (Phoenix, Carolina) and lost teams they should lose to (Colorado, Boston). You can categorize the Blues as one of those teams the Flames should lose to.
I don’t really put too much stock into the whole “first game back from a road trip” dogma that’s applied on a league-wide basis sometimes, but rather look at them individually. The Flames finished up a five game road trip with a loss on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, meaning they didn’t get into Calgary until late Saturday night. These Flames players had exactly one day turnaround, and the players with wives and children got back from a long road trip essentially three days before Christmas.
I look for the Blues to win tonight, but it might not be their typical 3-4 goal blowout, more a 3-2 win in overtime.
