Boston Bruins at Nashville Predators
Despite the Bruins not being able to score at will, they have averaged 34 shots on goal in their last six games on the road, and that includes games in Montréal (when they were playing well) and Vancouver.
Things are starting to slip for the Predators, as they are just 3-5-1 in their December games, have lost three straight (2-0-1), and have more than three goals just once in their last 11 games.
These types of inter-conference games are tough to judge. Yes, Boston is one of the top teams in the East, but Nashville is better than most of the competition that Boston regularly faces.
One advantage for the Bruins will be their penalty kill, as Boston has rolled along at a 91.4-percent efficiency on the PK this month and boast the third-best penalty kill in the league on the year. It’s crucial because Nashville has scored seven power play goals in their last five games, yet have just 12 goals in those games. If Boston can keep them off the board while short-handed, they should be able to win this game.
I expect a low-scoring contest, but the Bruins should skate away with a win.
