New Jersey Devils at Washington Capitals
Speaking of back-to-backs, both these teams played last night, with Washington toppling Carolina and New Jersey losing to Anaheim in overtime.
This will be the first meeting between these two teams, which is odd for division rivals at this point of the season, and brings a lot of uncertainty to the game; not being able to discern which lines match against which means five on five play is a bit tough to predict.
Both these teams have won their last two outings in a back-to-back situation, so I wouldn’t expect fatigue to be a big factor tonight. What will determine tonight’s game is special teams: New Jersey has power play goals in two straight games while Washington has nine power play goals in their last five games. If New Jersey doesn’t stay out of the box tonight, they have little chance of winning.
The back-to-back means I won’t be taking either goalie from this game, too, but I will have Washington power play skaters sprinkled in my lineups where I can.
