Florida Panthers at Winnipeg Jets
Talk about going streaking, the Panthers have won seven of their last eight games and five in a row. The game that started this stretch of wins was a 5-2 home win against these Winnipeg Jets back on December 5th.
The return of Evander Kane provided immediate dividends for the Jets, as the line of he, Mark Scheifele and Michael Frolik combined for three of Winnipeg’s five goals in their last two games.
Surprisingly, the Panthers are 6-7-3 against the Western Conference this year, a mark very few teams from the East can boast. If there has been one problem with the Panthers, it’s been their penalty kill; sitting 28th overall in the NHL, they’ve allowed seven power play goals against in their last six games. This is an area where Winnipeg could dominate, as they are 5-for-19 over their last five games with the man advantage.
Florida has been a pretty good story lately, but this is back-to-back nights on the road, three games in four nights, and four games in six days. At a point, a team just has to get tired, and the Jets are primed to fill the net tonight.
There is no confirmed goalie in net tonight, but if you’re not comfortable taking Antti Raanta from Chicago, I would be looking at whoever is between the pipes for Winnipeg tonight.
