DFS Fantasy Hockey Value Update – December 15

Los Angeles Kings at Chicago Blackhawks

This game marks back-to-back games for both teams, with Los Angeles coming off a win and Chicago coming off a 7-3 drubbing at the hands of the Maple Leafs.

Yesterday marked the 18th straight game the Kings didn’t allow more than two goals again. Over those 18 games, the Kings are an astounding 13-1-4. This is very reminiscent of the run Chicago went on to start the year last year when they had zero regulation losses in their first 24 games.

The line shuffling has been both a blessing and a curse when taking Kings players in DFS. Dwight King has moved up to the top line with Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar, and was even on the power play with them towards the end of the game. Coach Darryl Sutter is a type of coach who will reward good play regardless of who it is, and King has earned it in his eyes.

Chicago seemed to have a misstep last night. Full credit to the Leafs, as they played a solid game at both ends and their high-pressure play seemed to catch the Blackhawks off-guard. But the team that was at the Air Canada Centre last night should be able to put a better showing forward in this game.

The ‘Hawks haven’t been overly stellar as of late, having gone 3-3-1 over their last seven games. Sometimes good teams just go into a slide, and that seems to be happening to Chicago. I’m a bit more bullish on Los Angeles players tonight.
