Carolina Hurricanes at Phoenix Coyotes
The Hurricanes have lost three straight games on this Western road trip, which wraps up tonight. It’s not to say they’ve played horrifically; the shots for/against were pretty even, and the scores of those three games was 2-0, 5-4 (OT), 2-1 (OT).
After a mini-slide, the Coyotes seemed to have righted the course, having gone 4-2-1 in their last seven games and back-to-back wins to go with it. They have potted 23 goals in those seven contests, which is a bit more Coyotes-style than it had been during their losing streak.
There will be a lot of five on five play in this game, and I would expect most of the scoring to come at even strength as a result. These two teams have combined for just three power play goals on their last 21 opportunities combined, a 14.3-percent clip.
Neither goalie is confirmed to start yet, but I would probably avoid both anyway. There is enough firepower on both teams to make this a 4-3 game by the end of it, even without prolific power plays.
