St. Louis Blues at Columbus Blue Jackets
St. Louis is just 3-3 over their last six games, but they still have not scored fewer than two goals in a game since November 17th.
There are other problems going on in St. Louis right now. The power play has slid to 18.5-percent, which isn’t awful, but certainly isn’t what they’ve been for most of the year. The penalty kill has been rolling along at 76.1-percent for their last six games as well, which is an issue. This is still one of the best teams in the NHL, but we have seen small nicks in their armor over the last couple of weeks.
Columbus is playing better hockey of late, having won four of their last five games. At home, they’ve gone 5-1-1 over their last seven, which includes wins over Tampa Bay and Minnesota. Not too bad at all.
The line of Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky and Matt Calvert are the ones doing most of the damage, and they are still at manageable prices. I’m not overly bullish on Columbus though, as they will be starting their third string goalie Mike McKenna tonight, and also lost their top production defenseman James Wisniewski to the injured reserve.
