Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings
Boston has had a pretty good month of November so far, going 8-2-2, allowing more than two goals just twice over those 12 games. You might not think of Boston as a bastion of scoring, but as a team, they have scored at least two goals in 11 straight games. It’s not the big name guys getting it done every time, either.
Detroit out-played Buffalo a couple of nights ago, but it wasn’t a “wow” performance by any stretch, and the game was up in the air until Detroit scored a late empty-netter. They have lulls where they are almost seemingly regrouping mid-game, and they won’t be able to get away with that against a team like Boston. I would avoid Detroit goaltending tonight.

Philadelphia Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning
The top line in Philadelphia is still clicking, which means you know where to look for your point producers. The Flyers are really starting to roll offensively, posting 30+ shots on goals in five straight games, and tallying at least one power play goal in six straight games. You know what to do.
Word came down this morning that Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop left practice with a hand injury, and will be replaced tonight by Anders Lindback. He was bad last year and is even worse this year. Tampa has been playing good hockey despite missing Stamkos, but the mix of a good offensive opponent/bad goalie is not a good mixture for daily fantasy players from the Lightning.

New York Rangers at Florida Panthers
It’s only the Florida Panthers, but this is a type of revenge game for the Rangers. Their last game was a 5-0 embarrassment, the only loss of more than one goal since October 28th. I expect this team to come out flying tonight, which is bad news for the Panthers.
As far as Florida goes, don’t even.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Pittsburgh Penguins
Toronto has official scratched Jake Gardiner tonight, moved Mark Fraser up their defensive depth chart and installed Paul Ranger into the lineup. These are all mistakes, and it’s going to cost the Maple Leafs tonight in goals against. As good as the Leafs goaltenders have been, they will need to make 40 saves to give their team a chance tonight, and that’s not a smart bet.
Pittsburgh should feast. With Toronto scratching their second-best defenseman, and one of the few who can actually move the puck to his forwards effectively, Pittsburgh should get a lot of zone time. I don’t think this one will be close.

Phoenix Coyotes at Minnesota Wild
Phoenix this year has been an excellent home team and average road team, as has Minnesota. This gives a big advantage to the Wild out of the gate.
Phoenix has also allowed 19 goals in their last five games and have allowed at least two goals against in every single road game since October 11th, a stretch of eight games and 26 goals against.
Minnesota has been average recently, going 2-2 in their last four games, and are without Zach Parise for the next little while. That loss is a big hit to the Wild, so this could end up being a low-scoring affair, as players get used to new line mates. Look for the cheap plays in this contest.

St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche
St. Louis is on an incredible roll right now, having gone 12-2-1 in their last 15 games, and haven’t allowed more than one goal against in five straight games. They already played earlier this month, with St. Louis bringing down the hammer to the tune of seven goals.
Colorado is still without Matt Duchene but are coming off three very impressive wins against Chicago, Phoenix and Los Angeles. If they were playing just about any other team tonight, I’d be more apt to use their players. But St. Louis is just on another planet right now.

Chicago Blackhawks at Calgary Flames
I thought Chicago might lay an egg in Edmonton has they usually do, but they came prepared and beat down the Oilers 5-1. That doesn’t bode well for the Flames.
I came across this stat today, and it makes sense because the Flames allow the most goals against/game, but I don’t remember seeing something like this for a while: Calgary has allowed at least two goals against in every single game this season. They also can score, too, so it’s not like either goalie in this game is worth the risk.

Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks
Los Angeles Kings are 4-0-1 this month on the road, with their only loss coming in a shootout to Buffalo. They aren’t filling the net, but got Jeff Carter back last game and are one of five teams to put up at least four goals in a game on San Jose so far this season.
San Jose has turned their ship after a slow start to the month, going 5-1 in their last six games, including back-to-back home wins. They aren’t scoring a lot of goals consistently anymore, but this is a real toss-up game in my mind. If I take either goalie, it’s the guy from San Jose, but this is going to be a close game either way. If you’re looking for an automatic goalie win, this isn’t the game for it.
