If you have an “elite” tight end, you should start them regardless of matchup. That includes guys like Julius Thomas, Jordan Reed, Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowski, and maybe Jordan Cameron. On the flip side, it’s best to avoid guys like Kellen Winslow, Charles Clay, Delanie Walker, Heath Miller, John Carlson, and Brandon Pettigrew this week against their tough matchups. Greg Olsen is somewhere inbetween and remains startable against the Pats.
On the favorable side, Antonio Gates, Rob Housler, Coby Fleener, Martellus Bennett, Tim Wright and Tony Gonzalez all have matchups that could help them see some serious fantasy points. Regardless of favorable matchup, I’d say away from the untrustworthy Marcedes Lewis, Zach Miller, Brandon Myers, Scott Chandler, Anthony Fasano, and Andrew Quarless. Chandler could be a sleeper though after posting 79 yards and a touchdown against the Jets in Week 3, his best game of the season.
