There are 11 Major League Baseball games on tap for tonight, which should give Star Fantasy Leagues daily players enough options to put together a decent team. That said, there were many players I was hoping to be able to use who aren’t playing tonight, so I had to go with some secondary options. But there are still many good plays to be had, and this is what I’ve come up with. So, take advantage of these last few days of the regular season and join a MLB league of your own, and use the promo code “SJN” for a 40% deposit bonus.

(C) Jonathan Lucroy $6,693 – Lucroy has been one of the best offensive catchers in baseball this year and leads all backstops with 82 RBI. He has continued his production over the last week as he has hits in six straight games and RBI in three. He is also 2-for-3 against tonight’s starter, Paul Maholm, with a home run.

(1B) Victor Martinez $6,951 – After a sluggish start to the year, Martinez has battled back to get his season average to .302, largely thanks to his consistency. He has not gone consecutive games without a hit since August 3rd and he is currently working on an 11-game hitting streak.

(2B) Omar Infante $6,401 – Infante has put together a nice season, hitting .318 on the year, and is at .317 in September. He is currently working on a hitting streak of eight games and has a RBI in six of them.

(3B) Matt Davidson $5,126 – The Diamondbacks may not have anything left to play for this year but Davidson does. He’s hoping to become Arizona’s starting third baseman next season. In his last three games he is 4-for-12 with two homers and seven RBI.

(SS) Andrelton Simmons $6,142 – Simmons hasn’t had a stellar offensive year, but he has been adequate enough. He’s hitting .247 this season, and is four for his last 10, picking up two of his 17 home runs in those games.

(OF) Michael Brantley $6,401 – As the Indians continue to roll toward the playoffs, so too does Brantley. He has hits in each of his last eight games. Over his last two he has gone 6-for-8, and also has a home run in two of three games. He is also 3-for-7 lifetime against tonight’s opposing pitcher Dylan Axlerod.

(OF) Charlie Blackmon $5,275 – Blackmon is on an absolute tear right now. He has a nine-game hitting streak and has multiple hits in eight of those games. He is 22-for-44 during that run with eight extra base hits.

(OF) Charlie Culberson $4,268 – Culberson has managed to hit in 10 in a row despite being used as a pinch hitter in a few of them. He has started the last four, though, and has eight hits in those games.

(U) Leonys Martin $5,342 – Like many of the Rangers, Martin has been struggling a bit and was relegated to the nine spot in the batting order as of late. But as Texas has shown signs of life the last couple of days, so too has he. He is 2-for-6 in those two games with a double, three RBI, and a stolen base. I’m hoping he’s starting to kick it into an extra gear down the stretch.

(SP) Max Scherzer $18,150 – On his fifth try, Scherzer finally picked up his 20th win his last time out. Now he can help the Tigers clinch the A.L. Central tonight and he has a nice matchup against the Twins to help him do it. He won both of his starts against Minnesota this season, allowing nine hits and four runs over 13.1 innings, while striking out 16.

(SP) David Price $13,804 – As the Rays try to hang on to a wild card spot, there is no other pitcher Tampa would rather have on the mound than Price. He is the team’s ace and has given up just two runs in each of his last three starts. Tonight, he’ll oppose the Yankees. He picked up the win against them on August 24th, going six innings and giving up two runs on five hits.

(RP) Chris Perez $1,686 – Perez blew the save for the Indians last night so he’s not coming off his best performance. But he’s still the Cleveland closer, and Terry Francona will use him again if the situation calls for it. With the team continuing to be on a roll, I suspect they’ll be right in it again tonight.

(P) Ervin Santana $13,057 – Like Cleveland, the Royals are in must-win mode, and Santana should give them a chance. He has turned in quality starts each of his last three times out, allowing four earned runs over 21 innings. He has the A.L.’s eighth-best ERA at 3.16 and a game against the Mariners tonight shouldn’t hurt.
