It’s the final week which means even typically solid teams are going to need some streaming help. Let’s take a look at the final week’s most favorable matchups for pitchers available in most leagues and pull out a big win in our last chance of the season. Monday, September 23:
Jose Quintana vs TOR: Quintana owns a 2.14 ERA in September and has put up a 1.38 ERA over 13 IP against Toronto this season.
Brandon McCarthy at SD: McCarthy has had a solid September, putting up a 3.10 ERA over 29 IP. In two starts against the Padres this season, McCarthy has posted a 0.64 ERA over 14 IP.
Tuesday, September 24:
Ubaldo Jimenez vs. CHW: Jimenez has a 1.77 ERA since the All-Star break and has posted a 2.70 ERA over 13.1 IP against the White Sox this season.
Tyler Thornburg at ATL: Thornburg has a 1.25 ERA over six starts this season and will face a Braves lineup that ranks 23rd in the league this month.
Bruce Chen at SEA: Chen looked good in his last time out against the Indians, allowing just two runs and four hits over five. He last faced Seattle on September 3, holding them to two runs over six innings. The Mariners offense ranks 27th in the league this month.
Wednesday, September 25:
Esmil Rogers at BAL: Rogers has a 2.01 ERA over 22.1 IP this month and has held the Orioles to three runs over 10.2 IP this season while striking out ten.
Danny Salazar vs. CHW: Salazar has a strong 2.29 ERA over 19.2 IP this month and has pitched 3.2 scoreless innings this season against the White Sox.
Martin Perez vs. HOU: Perez has a 2.97 ERA over his last 10 starts and pitched nine one-run innings in his only start against the Astros this year, surrendering just four hits and striking out eight.
Thursday, September 26:
Ivan Nova vs. TB: Nova pitched a complete game shutout against the Giants in his last outing and has posted a 2.53 ERA over 21.1 IP against the Rays this year, striking out 20.
Friday, September 27:
Carlos Torres vs. MIL: If you remove his two starts against the Nats, Torres has a 1.97 ERA over 73 IP against all non-Washington teams.
Saturday, September 28:
Yusmerio Petit vs. SD: Petit has given up two or fewer runs in five of his seven games this season, striking out 45 K. He’ll face a Padres lineup that ranks dead last in runs this month.
Sunday, September 29:
Todd Redmond vs. TB: Redmond has allowed just two runs and seven hits over his last two starts (13.1 IP) while striking out 14 and walking just one. Last time he faced Tampa he held them to one run over six innings and Tampa ranks 26th in offense this month.
Jose Quintana vs. KC: Quintana makes his second appearance of the week and is a must-start with his 2.14 ERA this month. He hasn’t surrendered more than three runs in a game since August 11.
Ubaldo Jimenez at MIN: Ubaldo has given up one or no runs in four straight games and held the Twins to two runs over six innings while striking out 10 the last time he saw them.
