There isn’t much left to really decide in the Major League Baseball season. More than half of playoff berths are all but locked down and, among them, there isn’t much movement in the XN Sports weekly Power Rankings. But for the teams with their seasons on the line, it is getting very interesting.
The Texas Rangers, who not long ago led the A.L. West, are falling apart and, hence, free falling in the rankings. Other teams that are on the outside looking in, but closing the gap, are moving up in the rankings. The Nationals, Indians, and Royals find themselves heading in the right direction. The big question is: will it be too little too late?
Meanwhile, as the calendar year begins to wind down, the talk begins to pick up about the Academy Awards. The Toronto Film Festival just wrapped up which has really started the Oscar buzz, and several films are being released this fall with Oscar aspirations. So this week’s Power Rankings are inspired by the Academy Awards. If each team made a movie of their season based on a Best Picture winner, these are what they would be.
