According to Elizabeth Chuck of NBC Aaron Hernandez has been arrested and the New England Patriots have dropped him. The Patriots have released the following statement:

Foxboro, MA, USA; New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez (81) is pursued by Houston Texans safety Shiloh Keh (31) and safety Glover Quin (29) in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots defeated the Texans 41-28. Kirby Lee/USA TODAY Sports
A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.
On June 21 SJN’s Bryan Knowels wrote:
Police began to imply that Hernandez was directly connected with what had been confirmed as a homicide, and that he will be arrested. The police went back to his home and discovered that Hernandez – or someone associated with him – had destroyed his cell phone and his home security system, which included video surveillance. In addition, a cleaning team had been called to clean his mansion. To top it all off, in an unrelated incident, Hernandez had a civil suit filed against him, alleging he shot a man in the face in Miami.
