May 24 2013 Detroit MI USA Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer 7 hits a single in the ninth inning against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park Detroit won 6 0 Rick Osentoski USA TODAY Sports

(C) Joe Mauer $8,303 – Mauer is hitting .339 on the season and has 9 hits in his last 6 games. He also has 2 home runs in his last 3.

(1B) Kendrys Morales $6,445 – Morales is putting together a nice season in Seattle. He’s hitting .301 on the year and .500 in his last 7 games with a home run and 9 RBI. He’s also facing Edinson Volquez who has a .306 BAA on the road this year.

(2B) Kelly Johnson $6,225 – Johnson is coming off a monster performance last night when he went 4-for-5 with 2 home runs, a double, 6 RBI, and 2 runs. Even if he does half that tonight, it will be a success.

(3B) Josh Donaldson $7,202 – Donaldson has been a pleasant surprise in Oakland this season, with a .324 average, 8 home runs, 33 RBI, and 27 runs. He’s also in the midst of a 4-game hitting streak.

(SS) Brendan Ryan $3,445 – Ryan comes as a very inexpensive option with upside. While nothing particularly flashy, he has hits in 11 of his last 12 games, and also gets to face Volquez tonight.

(OF) Mike Trout $12,546 – The 2012 Rookie of the Year is tearing it up again in 2013. In his last 7 games he has a .452 average, 12 runs, 3 triples, 2 home runs, and 8 RBI. It’s tough to not add him here.

(OF) Adam Jones $9,245 – Jones continues to be one of the best young players in the game. During his 6-game hitting streak, he has 11 hits, 4 home runs, 8 runs, and 6 RBI.

(OF) Carlos Gomez $7,745 – After enduring a bit of a slump, Gomez is returning to the form he had during his scorching start. He has 4 home runs in his last 3 games.

(U) Michael Morse $6,898 – Morse has 11 home runs on the year and hit one last night — his first since May 16th. I like having someone in this spot who could hit one out.

(SP) Hyun-Jin Ryu $13,338 – Ryu is having a very nice debut season with a 5-2 record, 3.30 ERA, and 60 strikeouts in 10 starts. He’s facing a resurgent Angels team tonight, but one he should still be able to keep in check.

(SP) Jeremy Hellickson $10,335 – Hellickson may be having the worst season of his young career with a record of just 2-2 and an ERA of 5.37. But he is coming off of an 8-inning, 2-run performance against Toronto and gets to face the Marlins tonight.

(RP) Addison Reed $2,650 – Reed has been one of the best closers in the game this year and his White Sox play the Cubs tonight, hopefully setting up a save opportunity for Reed.

(P) Brandon Maurer $4,985 – This selection is merely a case of trying to get something out of a cheap starting pitching option. With a 2-6 record and 6.80 ERA, I’m hoping I can just steal a few points here as he faces the Padres.
