Week 8 in the MLB Power Rankings features the Texas Rangers fixed in the no. 1 spot for the second week in a row. We’re also seeing a surprising burst in production from the Yankees, Cardinals and Diamondbacks, all teams that weren’t expected to get off to such great starts, let alone lead their respective divisions.

Yet, here we are with seven weeks in the books and the Angels, Tigers, Blue Jays and neither the Dodgers nor Giants are leading their divisions.

What’s it going to take for some of these high-powered offenses to come alive, or for hot pitching staffs to fall back to Earth?

In the meantime, all eyes should be on the Cleveland Indians. They’ve won 18 of their last 22 games, and appear to be turning their pitching around from last year’s 4.78 ERA.
