The impossible has happened and the Braves have been bumped from their top spot in the 2013 MLB Power Rankings. For various reasons, their pitching has taken a turn for the worse over the past week.

The unavoidable ascension of the Red Sox as baseball’s top team has occurred, Arizona and Colorado continue to dominate the NL West, and the Dodgers are struggling to find their stride, despite a good look on paper.

The time has come for us to stop holding our breath on teams like the Blue Jays and White Sox. It’s not looking like things are going to turn around anytime soon for those two. At the same time, no one’s holding their breath on the Cubs, Padres, Marlins and Astros. As we said last week, the bright side is that there’s nowhere to go but up.
