Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for March 30 – (Late Games)

San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns

My last set of FanDuel NHL picks scored 35.60 points and got in the money in the two 50/50’s I entered. Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton were our stars scoring just over 19 fantasy points between them. My cheap goaltending strategy paid off as Joey MacDonald came through with 5.4 fantasy points and was dirt cheap on FanDuel. I’ll look to continue a nice mini win streak today by playing FanDuel’s late game only tournaments and contests.

To help continue that streak I’m taking Jason LaBarbera at $5,600. LaBarbera actually has some decent numbers—.914 save percentage, 2.74 GAA—so the pick isn’t entirely the product of cheap goaltending insanity. But a dose of cheap goaltending insanity is surely in play with the LaBarbera pick.

Brent Burns at defense is almost becoming a must play. He has three goals and one assist over his past four games as he’s getting time at forward. I’ll pair Burns with Jonas Brodin. Brodin has two assists over his past two games and sees some power play time.

Here’s how I’ll round out the rest of my team:

LW: Alexander Ovechkin $9,200—Ovechkin has six goals in his past six games. He’s officially listed as day-to-day after taking a puck to the chin on Thursday. He will almost certainly play tonight—but keep your eye on his official status.

LW: Taylor Hall $7,300—Hall has five points over his past three games.

RW: Dustin Brown $6,400—Brown has two goals and one assist over his past two games.

RW: Phil Kessel $7,300—Kessel has four assists in his past two games. Although he doesn’t have a goal over that time he has been getting the puck on net—nine shots in two games.

C: Cody Hodgson $5,500—Although Hodgson has not scored a goal in five games he does have four assists over that time. I like the fact he was able to get six shots on net against Florida on Mar. 28. I believe the goals will come as long as he stays that active.

C: Adam Henrique $4,700—Henrique is my reach of the day. I’m using him because I like his matchup against Florida. He has ten goals and four assists this season.

D: Brent Burns $5,400

D: Jonas Brodin $3,600

G: Jason LaBarbera $5,600
