Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks – March 12

Colorado Avalanche forward PA Parenteau

I am currently writing this in the grip of daily fantasy despair from two nights ago. It doesn’t feel good to lose. We didn’t lose completely—the lineup went 1-2. But overall, it’s a losing night. Dante wrote, “I felt for the tormented whirlwinds Damned for their carnal sins Committed when they let their passions rule their reason.” Was Dante talking about something else besides daily fantasy? Maybe. Did my passion rule my reason the other night? In one case it did. When I presented the Hodgson/Duchene debate in my picks reason dictated I should go with Duchene. I didn’t. I followed my gut, my passion, and went with Hodgson. Duchene scored two goals. Hodgson had three shots. I’ll leave the carnal sin business to your own dirty minds.

But we have to move on and pick again. I’ll enter the following lineup into some 50/50’s and head-to-heads at FanDuel.

LW: Brad Marchand $7,100—I expect this Pitt/Bos game to get chippy. This could mean some valuable penalty minutes for Marchand.

LW: Nick Foligno $4,900—He’s a risky pick but I like how he’s been playing. He has three points in his past three games to go with a plus-3 rating.

RW: Loui Eriksson $6,000—I’m taking another risk here but Eriksson has six points in his past six games.

RW: Pierre Parenteau $6,700—Parenteau has been on fire with at least one point in his past six games.

C: Steven Stamkos $9,000—It always comes down to a Crosby/Stamkos debate. I’ll take Stamkos because he gets Florida while Crosby gets Boston.

C: Nazem Kadri $6,500—Kadri has been playing at an elite level while still remaining relatively cheap on FanDuel. Continue to take him while he remains at this price.

D: Jacob Muzzin $4,400—Muzzin has a goal and two assists over his past two games.

D: Dougie Hamilton $4,400—As always, I’m rolling with Hamilton. He gets power play time and has 12 points this season.

G: Anders Lindback $6,000—Lindback is the confirmed starter and has a nice matchup against Florida.

Good luck tonight. Occasionally I’ll post a secondary lineup or updates on the status on the players above. Check back before the games tonight.

This is a secondary lineup I’ll enter into FanDuel tournaments that allow multiple entries. I took out Hamilton and replaced him with John Carlson. Additionally, I took out Stamkos (something that scares me) and allocated the freed up cap space to create a more balanced lineup.
