Week 19 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Post-Break Surges

Sacramento Kings forward John Salmons

While the NBA All-Star break doesn’t typically have the same visible turnaround effect as the MLB All-Star break, there will always be guys that get hot afterward which makes it seem related to the break when it really isn’t. That said, let’s take a look at some guys who are heating up since the break, even though we know the break had nothing to do with their turnarounds.

John Salmons (Owned in 12% of Yahoo Leagues): Salmons has come alive since the All-Star break, averaging 32 MPG, 16 PPG, 3.8 3PPG, and one SPG while shooting 48% from the floor and a ridiculous 68% from behind the arc. Pick him up and ride out this hot streak while you can.

Wilson Chandler (50%): I didn’t know if Chandler would have much value once Danilo Gallinari returned to the lineup but Chandler ended up having one of his best games coming off the bench Friday against the Nuggets putting up 35 points and six treys while shooting 68% from the floor. Chandler won’t contribute much in non-scoring categories but he is a nice option headed down the stretch and is averaging 19.6 PPG and 2.4 3PPG over his last five games.

Corey Brewer (14%): Brewer has emerged as another solid fantasy option off of Denver’s bench, scoring double-digits in six of his last seven games. Over that time he is averaging 12.3 PPG and two SPG and could be worth a pickup in deeper leagues if he continues to play over 25 MPG.

Jeff Green (40%): Green has been on a pretty good roll going back to January, averaging 15 PPG, four RPG, and 1.5 BPG in his last 16 games. He has been even hotter since the break, averaging 32 MPG, 17 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.8 BPG while shooting 53% in his last six games. He’s definitely worth a pickup in most leagues as long as he can keep this up.

Devin Harris (19%): Harris has been playing much better of late and has earned himself fantasy-relevant minutes after largely struggling most of the season. He has scored in the double-digits in six straight games and in his last five he is averaging 27 MPG, 14.4 PPG, 2.4 3PPG, 4.2 APG, and 1.8 SPG on 52% shooting. Snag him up while he’s hot.

E’Twaun Moore (11%): Moore has done very well replacing Jameer Nelson in the starting lineup and is worth a pickup in most leagues as long as he stays there. In six games since Nelson went down, Moore is averaging 11.3 PPG, 1.7 3PPG, 7.3 APG, and 1.2 SPG. His value will return to its usual irrelevance once Nelson returns though.

Shane Battier (13%): Battier has been a three-point machine since even before the All-Star break and if you need help in that department you should snag him up now. He has scored 12 treys in his last three games, averaging 13.3 PPG and has scored 36 threes in his last 11 games while shooting a ridiculous 64% from behind the arc.

Luke Ridnour (52%): Ridnour has looked excellent going back to January and has turned it up even more since the break. In his last 10 games, he is averaging 15.5 PPG, 4.2 APG, and one SPG. In his last 24 games, he is averaging 14 PPG, 3.6 APG, and one SPG on 48% shooting. This is about what you can expect going forward so pick him up if you need a decent reserve guard heading toward the playoffs.
