Going on some early morning initial reports that Viktor Fasth was getting the start yesterday I plugged him into my lineup. Of course he didn’t start and I had a big fat zero next to his name. Lesson learned. It’s one of the pitfalls of trying to squeeze a daily fantasy lineup into an early holiday NHL schedule. Thankfully things are back to normal today and we’ll have time to monitor the goalie situation throughout the day.

Even with the zero, the lineup went 3-0 in head-to-head matchups, placed fourth in one 50 man league and eighth in another 50 man league. Overall, not a bad day. We are now 18-11 in head-to-heads and I will start to keep track of how we’re doing in FanDuel’s 50/50’s. So far we’re 2-0.

LW: Thomas Vanek $8,400—Vanek leads the NHL in scoring and is up against a Winnipeg team that ranks 25th in the NHL in goals allowed.

LW: James van Riemsdyk $6,700—I have a little fantasy hockey man-crush on van Riemsdyk. He’s sees power play time, is a plus-3 over his past three games and assisted on Kessel’s game winning goal the other night. I think he has the potential to do some big things.

RW: Alex Burrows $6,900—I like that Burrows plays with the Sedin’s and has been shooting the puck a ton recently (18 shots in four games). He has two points and is a plus-2 over his past two games.

RW: Vladimir Tarasenko $5,000—This pick is all about potential. We know how explosive he can be and he has a goal and one assist over his last three games.

C: Steven Stamkos $9,200—Stamkos has two goals, two assists and seven shots on goal over his past two games.

C: Nazem Kadri $4,900—At $4,900 it’s very difficult to pass on a guy who has three points (two on the power play) over the course of three games.

D: Justin Schultz $5,000—Although it’s been three games since Shultz has recorded a point I like his potential tonight. He does have two goals this month and has four shots on goal in his past two games.

D: Christian Ehrhoff $5,700—Ehrhoff has four points in his last two games. He’s looking very studly right now.

G: Jake Allen $3,200—It’s confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt that Allen is starting tonight. At only $3,200 he’s incredibly hard to pass up and—since I have no will power—I’ll roll with him.
