Yesterday was a good FanDuel day for our daily NHL lineup. The lineup went 2-0 in head-to-head matchups and placed in the money in the one tournament I entered. I’ve told you when my picks haven’t worked out like I wanted—so I’ll humblebrag a little today.
But in daily fantasy—yesterday doesn’t matter.
Hopefully today’s lineups help you win your daily fantasy tournaments and head-to-head matchups. I’m rolling out two teams today. One team will feature a balanced approach, while the second will feature two high-priced players.
Team One
LW: Cory Conacher $5,700—His FanDuel price tag continues to rise so he’s not quite the value pick he used to be. But Conacher is still a good play at $5,700. He’s gone pointless over his past two games but I expect him to get back on track tonight against New Jersey.
LW: James van Riemsdyk $5,500—I love James van Riemsdyk on the power play. If you’ve seen any recent Toronto games you’ve seen van Riemsdyk just plant himself in front of the goalie waiting for a deflection or rebound.
RW: Vladimir Tarasenko $5,600—Five goals, five assists and a plus-five rating—I’ll take Tarasenko at this price.
RW: Jason Pominville $7,700—Pominville plays on one of the hottest lines in hockey with Hodgson and Vanek. He has six goals and eight assists through 10 games this season.
C: Cody Hodgson $5,300—Like Conacher, Hodgson’s FanDuel price tag is on the rise. But I still like him at $5,300.
C: Evgeni Malkin $9,400—Malkin is just too good to be held at two goals for very long.
D: Raphael Diaz $3,900—Even with Subban back I like Diaz. He saw over 20 minutes of ice time against Boston last night—as long as he remains cheap (and is getting on the ice) he’s a good play.
D: Jonathon Blum $3,200—Blum had two assists on Feb. 5 and has looked solid in his first two games of the season.
G: Craig Anderson $8,700—Anderson has a 1.33 GAA and a .956 save percentage. I’m comfortable using him as my daily fantasy goalie.
Team Two (I do this when I want two studs in the same lineup)
LW: Cory Conacher $5,700
LW: James van Riemsdyk $5,500
RW: Vladimir Tarasenko $5,600
RW: Matt Frattin $5,000—The only issue with Frattin is ice time—just over 12 minutes per game. But he has been making his time count with five goals and two assists in seven games.
C: Steven Stamkos $9,900—Stud one.
C: Sidney Crosby $9,600—Stud two.
D: Raphael Diaz $3,900
G: Leland Irving $6,400—This pick is based purely on price. Irving is getting his first start of the season and is the cheapest goaltender on the board.
Note: Michael Grabner at $5,300 and Zack Kassian at $4,700 are also good value plays tonight. You may want to experiment with your roster using those two players.
