I won’t pee on your shoes and tell you it’s raining. Yesterday was a rough day down at FanDuel. Claude Giroux and Sidney Crosby combined for a whopping 0.12 fraction of a fantasy point. When your two expensive studs lay an egg so horrendously rancid you move on, question whether there is a God who truly loves you, and try again. From time to time you just have days like that.
I have regrouped, researched, and have entered the following lineup into some FanDuel Tournaments.
LW: Milan Lucic $6,700. To put it simply I like what I have seen from Lucic this season. He has shown grit, energy and a knack to find the back of the net. There was some question about his conditioning entering this shortened season and a fear he would take some time to get into game shape. The question was answered, and answered quickly. He’s ready to go. Lucic has averaged 17:55 minutes of ice time, has two goals, one assist and 17 penalty minutes. A fight and a goal are not out of the question against Carolina tonight.
LW: Zack Kassian $4,300. Kassian had three shots on goal and five penalty minutes against San Jose last night. Not exactly exciting stuff, but his value at $4,300 can’t be ignored. The power forward has the potential to give you penalty minutes and perhaps a power play goal. He’s a good value play at $4,300.
RW: Jordan Eberle $7,300. Eberle has two goals and three assists this season. More importantly, the points have mainly come on special teams. Against Calgary on Saturday night Eberle had a goal and an assist—both came on the power play. In FanDuel scoring you are given an extra 0.5 fantasy points for points coming on special teams. Eberle has the ability to light it up. The fact he may do it on the power play only adds to his value tonight.
RW: Pierre Parenteau $6,500. The highlight of Parenteau’s 17-plus minutes on the ice Saturday against San Jose was a minor penalty. But the right-winger gets ample power play time and before Saturday’s dud had two goals, an assist and a plus/minus of four. Look for him to get back on track tonight against Devan Dubnyk.
C: Anze Kopitar $7,400. Koptiar looks to be back in the swing of things after an early injury. He scored two goals against the Coyotes on Saturday and is a safe play as he’s getting the puck on net (10 SOG) and is averaging 20:24 minutes of ice time per game.
C: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins $6,700. Eventually Nugent-Hopkins will find the back of the net he’s getting ample opportunity with an average ice time of 22:31 per game. The young center will get his fair share of assists and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks out with a few goals.
D: Dougie Hamilton $3,500. We aren’t passing on Dougie Hamilton at $3,500. He’s getting power play minutes and the 18-year-old looks right at home in the NHL. He probably won’t be at $3,500 long.
D: Justin Schultz $4,700. Like Hamilton, Schultz’s FanDuel price will probably rise over the coming weeks. Use him while he’s cheap. He has six points this season and is seeing power play time.
G. Kari Lehtonen $7,900. Lehtonen is playing Columbus tonight. Get him on your roster.
