At Sports Jerks we’ve found an increasing interest in daily fantasy hockey. To meet that demand we will roll out your best FanDuel picks every day for the rest of the season. There are some great tournaments over at FanDuel, or you can create your own head to head match ups. The picks below represent games starting at 3pm today. I will enter my lineups in a few head to head matchups and let you know how the picks are treating me as the season goes on.
LW: Zack Kassian $4,400—Kassian is a great value play at $4,400. He’s playing with the Sedin brothers, has three goals in three straight games and has the added benefit of taking a penalty here and there.
LW: Cory Conacher $3,600—You just have to ride Conacher at $3,600 right now. He’s plus-4 with seven points and four PIMS to start the season. One of two things will happen: he will slow down to match his $3,600 tag, or his price will start to go up. Use him while you can.
RW: T.J. Oshie $5,900—Four out of Oshie’s five points have come on special teams and this little nugget from ESPN.com convinced me to pull the trigger on Oshie, “Minnesota’s Niklas Backstrom is 0-4-0 with a 4.24 GAA lifetime at St. Louis, but is expected to be between the pipes for this one.”
RW: Cody Hodgson $5,200—Although Hodgson pretty much laid a FanDuel egg on Jan. 25 (0 G, 0 A, 0+/-) I was encouraged by his ice time (20:21) and his six shots on goal. He’s up against a Capitals team that just looks lazy right now.
C: Sidney Crosby $9,400—There’s not much to say. Crosby is the first stud I’m going with today. In four games Crosby has three goals, two assists and 16 shots on goal. Crosby didn’t look great out of the gate, but he’s quickly found his stride.
C: Claude Giroux $8,300—Giroux is my second stud of the day. The Flyers star has two goals, two assists, six PIMS, and 10 shots on goal early on this year. On any given day Giroux can light it up, regardless of the matchup.
D: Raphael Diaz $3,900—Diaz was recently placed on Montreal’s first power play unit and with P.K. Subban still in contract limbo he should get his fair share of ice time. He’s hard to pass up at $3,900.
D: Ryan Suter $5,000—I like Suter’s value here. According to ESPN he’s averaging 5:50 minutes of power play time per game. He played over 32 minutes against Detroit on Thursday. I expect the points to start coming.
G: Ryan Miller $8,800—Miller is fifth in the league with a goals against average of 1.67 and he’s up against a Capitals team that has lost four straight to start the year and could very well be the worst team in the NHL. NOTE: Miller is probable to start, but make sure you check on the status of your starting G before you enter your lineup.
Good luck, and check back every day for more daily fantasy hockey picks.
