According to MLB Trade Rumors and first reported by Fox Sports, the Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of acquiring Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson from the Miami Marlins. The Blue Jays will also acquire catcher John Buck and infielder Emilio Bonifacio. Toronto will send Adeiny Hechavarria,Yunel Escobar, Henderson Alvarez, Justin Nicolino and Jake Marisnick to Miami.
There are still many moving parts to this but it appears to be a done deal.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted:
Asked official with one of clubs if he has any concern that commissioner might kill the deal. His response: “None at all.”

If the deal is completed, and there is no reason to believe it will not be, Toronto suddenly becomes a force to be reckoned with in the American League East. Toronto will have a bona fide ace in Johnson, a solid veteran in Buehrle and a strong bat in Reyes. This puts the rest of the AL East on notice, especially the Boston Red Sox, who just recently acquired manager John Farrell from Toronto.
What does this mean for Miami? It means a flop of epic proportions and the beginning of what could be a long rebuilding process.
To get a sense of what fans in Miami may be thinking we have to look no further than Giancarlo Stanton‘s latest tweet:
Alright, I’m pissed off!!! Plain & Simple
— Giancarlo Stanton (@Giancarlo818) November 13, 2012
Yes Giancarlo, I’m sure you have an entire city echoing that sentiment right now.
